5th and McBride makes for top ICBC trouble spot for Prince Rupert

 

Trouble spots through the downtown core make for the data
points on a newly released data from a crash report from ICBC

If you are on the roads of Prince Rupert, you are most likely location to meet mishap is the intersection of Fifth Avenue East and West and McBride, that the findings from 2021 traffic data from ICBC.

The report released recently by the Provincial insurance agency has charted all of Prince Rupert's reported incidents and the intersection on the approach or departure to the downtown core tops the list with 7 crashes for 2021. 

The McBride/5th intersection was closely followed by another trouble spot along McBride at Third Avenue East and West with 5.

Two more intersections along 2nd Avenue West at Sixth Street  and Five Corners also make for areas of note with 4 crashes recorded for each.

Ninth Avenue West/East and McBride with four reported crashes round out the top Five likely locations from 2021.

The remainder of the 49 locations in total that are listed recorded either one or two crashes in the annual road roundup from the Insurance Corporation of British Columbia.

The intersection which resulted in the most injuries to person from 2021 was that of 2nd West/East at McBride with three cases reported for last year.

Fifth East/West at McBride was the one for the largest volume of property damage cases at 6

There is some consistency to those reports with four of the five on the list for 2021 prominent in the data over the course of reporting back to 2017.

Historically over the 2017-2021 period the chart that follows shows the intersections where the most injuries to person were reported as a result of car crashes.

Two trouble spots for Port Edward in 2021

Port Edward had two incidents in the count for 2021 with Bayview Drive at Nelson, and Rainbow Avenue at Skeena Drive/sunset Drive each recording one crash of note for ICBC.

Over the period of 2017-2021 the District has five areas of note listed for a total of seven crashes
