North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice has paid tribute to the work of British Columbia's Midwives, the MLA delivering a statement Thursday to the Legislature that celebrated the profession as part of the 100th Anniversary of the International Confederation of Midwives.
Ms. Rice called attention to the critical role that Midwives play in the BC health care system and how through their work and specialized knowledge they reduce the burdens on hospitals across the province.
Her comments as part of the Thursday morning session of the Legislature also provided for a shout out for the local advocacy group on the North Coast the Prince Rupert Advocates for Midwifery and their work towards providing for midwifery as an option for maternity care in the region.
