Application period for funding opportunities for Homelessness Initiatives now open until end of June

If you belong to an organization, or non-profit group that has an idea to provide assistance for the homeless in the community, a chance to put your plan to work with Government of Canada funding is now available.

Prince Rupert Aboriginal Community Services Society which works on a range of homelessness issues in the community has outlined the scope of the 2022-23 funding stream currently being offered through the Government of Canada.

The focus for the program is to offer financial assistance to organizations that have a project idea to improve the lives of Indigenous people experiencing homelessness, or at risk of homelessness.

Projects can be large or small, but all must provide for initiatives that will address homelessness themes in the community and help to provide solutions to that growing issue of concern in Prince Rupert.

Prince Rupert's Urbaloo opened for use in March, it was funded
in part as a homelessness
initiative

Yesterday, the City of Prince Rupert helped in sharing the word and highlighted one of the initiatives that came out of a previous funding stream, that of the downtown washroom facility known as the Urbaloo at the corner of Third Avenue West and Seventh Street.

You can learn more about whether your concept is eligible for funding by accessing the federal program website here.

Locally if you have questions you can contact Miranda Kessler at 250-622-2891, or contact the office at reachinghome@citywest.ca

The Deadline to apply for funding is 4 PM on June 30th.
