The Museum of Northern British Columbia, one of the city's' most impressive facilities will be the home for an NDP Social event later this month (image from FB) |
Premier David Eby will have some Northbound travel plans come mid month, the Premier one of a number of NDP luminaries who will be taking part in an event at the Museum of Northern BC.
North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice who will be the host, has issued the invitations to the public, the March 16th social occasion billed as 'An evening with the Premier of British Columbia" with Mr. Eby to be joined at the event by Minister of Municipal Affairs Anne Kang.
Serving as the Night's Master of Ceremonies will be Skeena-Bulkley Valley MP Taylor Bachrach.
The evening with the Premier will see the doors to the Museum open at 5:30 PM, with dinner to take place from 6 to 8 PM.
Dinner and some social time with the Premier doesn't come cheap, with a 150 dollar price on the tickets for the two and half hours of socializing.
You have to dig a bit into a thread of conversation to learn that the March event is a fundraiser for the New Democrats on the North Coast.
The event page for the event doesn't really provide much more info on the plans for the night, so we put in a correspondence with the MLA's office towards more background on the Premier's mid March plans.
Though we have yet to hear back on any notes related to the social occasion.
For those looking to attend, but perhaps a bit tight on cash these days, there does seem to be some room for negotiation on the price of the dinner however,.
The MLA's various portals of information do not indicate if the Premier will have time on his calendar for a public meet up with North Coast residents for about 150 dollars less than the price point of the higher profile night time event.
Also with the Minister of Municipal Affairs along for the travels, Prince Rupert residents and maybe a few local politicians, will be watching to see if there is any more news to share on the city's infrastructure challenges and other political issues that the city has raised in recent months.
Participants of the March 16th event may even dare to ask about the progress of the Port Tax Cap petition that Ms. Rice delivered to the Legislature this week.
Follow Ms. Rice's Social media stream for updates on the event.
More notes on her work at the Legislature and in the constituency office can be reviewed through our archives page.
