The renovation of the Atlin Terminal space was announced in February of this year, the facility closed on February 15th with the Port Interpretive Center and the Tourism Prince Rupert space both set to gain a new look.
The original date for reopening had been noted as May 3rd, with few updates towards any progress as that date passed by.
The North Coast Review reached out the Port to learn more of the delays, with Katherine Voigt, the PRPA Manager of Communications providing a snapshot of the situation.
"Unfortunately, we’ve had challenges sourcing the specific materials required to complete the Port Interpretive Centre renovation on our original schedule.
Thankfully, our partnership with Tourism Prince Rupert to host Visitor Information Centre services out of the Lax Suulda container market has been running successfully and has received positive feedback from merchants and visitors alike.
We will be providing these services seven days per week in this location for the rest of the summer season."
