Tonight's Prince Rupert City Council session will provide a look at some solutions that city staff have come up with towards the recent petition call for repairs to the 4th Avenue Pathway.
At the last Council session, a large delegation of residents were in the council chamber in support of their petition for the city to repair and reopen the connector between the 4th Ave West neighbourhood area and the Downtown core to Third.
Tonight a Report from Richard Pucci, Director of Operations and Intergovernmental Relations will recommend that the city first conduct an investigation into the rehabilitation needs, with staff recommending the use of the Odd Eidsvik Park Budget towards that work.
For those not familiar with the Odd Eidsvik park proposal, it was the subject of a presentation to Council back in January of this year, that explored potential improvements to the west side area park off of Atlin.
The park proposal from January sparked a larger discussion on the fate of many of the city's parks, with Council members noting that some areas of the city have challenges towards play areas.
With the topic the subject of the Agenda tonight, it is available for public comment and could be a focus for some of the public discussion period at the start of the evening session.
More notes on this evenings session can be reviewed from our Council Preview here.
