After decades of faithful service at the corner of Fulton and Third Avenue West, the traffic light that has kept the flow of vehicles in check is close to its final cycle change.
The City of Prince Rupert has posted a Call for Bids on the provincial BC Bid website for replacement of the signal, a follow up on an update from Operations Manager Richard Pucci from earlier this year that the aging traffic control fixture was on its way out.
The prospectus from the City notes of the end of the life expectancy for the signal and the quest for a new efficient camera traffic and pedestrian controlled system.
The checklist of requirements for prospective applicants is extensive, with eleven elements of key interest from the City towards the replacement project.
The deadline for receipt of proposals is set for 2 PM on June 23rd the timeline of the work ahead set for completion by the end of September.
