BC Liberals to become BC United with livestream event later tonight

After months of planning, the BC Liberals are ready to let go of their old name, with the embrace of BC United set to take place this evening with a live streamed name change event set for 5:45 PM

The decision to rebrand as BC United came last fall, that following a consultation of the membership of the party, the vote finding 80 percent of those participating endorsing the new name.

Opposition Leader Kevin Falcon noted in November of the strong endorsement in his statement that followed the results of the balloting towards the name change.

“For more than twenty years, our party’s name has been a constant topic of debate. A strong vote for BC United marks a new beginning. I’m excited to move forward as BC United because it really reflects our big tent party, united for a common purpose of making life better for British Columbians.”

You can watch the shift of political identity from the party website here.

The party has already removed the Old BC Liberal image from their social media stream and now awaits the 5:45 reveal of the new brand.

The Legislature is currently on it's Easter Break, so the first opportunity for the Seaker of the Chamber to call on a BC United MLA to speak won't come until the Monday morning session of April 17th.
