A 6.2 magnitude quake was recorded offshore of Vancouver island today just before 9AM |
A significant seismic shift has been recorded in the North Pacific just off the coast of Vancouver island, with the USGS reporting of a 6.2 magnitude Quake located 238 kilometres SouthWest of Port McNeill on Northern Vancouver Island.
Recorded at 8:54 AM today, the quake had a dept of 7.3 kilometres
Today's event is in the area of similar, but smaller quakes that have been recorded in recent months in an area off of Vancouver Island or south of Haida Gwaii.
While larger than those of the past, today's seismic event did not generate any Tsunami warnings for the BC or Alaska coastlines
