A container is the canvas for a new Tourism Prince Rupert art project opportunity for the Prince Rupert Waterfront |
As they prepare to launch the latest waterfront initiative in Prince Rupert, Tourism Prince Rupert is looking to add some artistic flair to the project, with a call for artists to design a 'Welcome to Prince Rupert' mural for the promenade Container marketplace planned for between the Cruise Terminal and the Atlin Terminal.
The project comes with a $1,000 dollar payment for the successful applicant.
What tourism Prince Rupert is looking for is described as follows:
The selected artist will provide a digital art file to be applied as a decal to the exterior of the Container. The design must include the words "Welcome to Prince Rupert, Canada," and "Ła Bała Sgan a Kxeen" as primary features and incorporate local elements such as the landscape, wildlife, and culture.
(Those elements are prominent as part of the two Highway welcome signs, such as the one below on the way into town from the BC Ferries terminal.)
Tourism Prince Rupert adds, that the design should act as an interactive backdrop for a visitor photo opportunity, with an obvious place to stand in front.
The deadline to submit your application comes up on April 21st.
