Staffing issues continue to make for challenges for Haida Gwaii inter island travellers

Another in a growing list of staffing issues for BC Ferries left the MV Kwuna at the dock for most of Wednesday, with the ferry that connects the two Islands of Haida Gwaii unable to set sail owing to a lack of crew available for the scheduled sailings of the day.

The notice of the day's troubles for travel on Route 26 for those transiting the Alliford Bay to  Skidegate route was provided early in the day, with a Service Notice issued in the morning.

By 3:30 BC Ferries had resolved the staffing challenge making for the first sailing of the day, though the final sailing of the night scheduled for 10 was cancelled.

In January, the sailing of the Northern Expedition between the Islands and Prince Rupert was scrubbed for the same issue of staffing troubles.

The Frequent Sailing interruptions both on Island and between Skidegate and Prince Rupert have become a significant issue of concern for Haida Gwaii politicians who have previously made their thoughts made clear to BC Ferries and the NDP government.
