Prince Rupert City Council takes their only August session on the road tonight, with the Lester Centre for the Arts the stage for an evening of municipal governance that could make for a fairly lively experience.
That with the themes for the night ranging from a Public Hearing on the proposed rezoning of land for the 11th Avenue apartment complex plans, to a presentation on the future for the CN Railway station at Rotary waterfront park as part of the Committee of the Whole Process.
As well in addition to their regular Council themes, a Closed session will take the membership behind closed doors at 4 PM
The Public Hearing related to the proposed land rezoning themes will be open to the public at 6 PM at the Lester Centre.
The Regular Session, also to be held at the Arts Centre features a number of reports and resolutions for Council's consideration, including the two development themes of the night, that of the rezoning request fo the Lax Kw'alaams led housing initiative on 11th and the outline of the plans for the CN Station at the Waterfront park location.
Also of note for the evening some potential new additions to the Permissive Tax Exemption list for 2022.
A chance for council members to share any reports, questions or make any inquiries will bring the evening's work to an end.
As outlined above, it being a Committee of the Whole night, the city's elected officials will be able to learn more on the themes related to the refurbishment of the CN building. With Charlie Madison, from Boni-Madison Architects set to provide a presentation on the plans for the structure.

Council will also host a Special Council Session at 4PM, the meeting closed to public owing to two elements.
Labour relations or other employee relations, as we'll as the acquisition, disposition or expropriation of land or improvements and negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that are at their preliminary stages.
