Application period now open for Non Profit/Volunteer Groups seeking Community Enhancement Grant funding


It's that time of the year again, with local community non profit organizations and volunteer groups now putting the finishing touches on their Community Enhancement Grant applications, that as the City of Prince Rupert opens up the one month window to submit an application for consideration.

The call for applications was put in motion this week, with the City putting out notice of the process towards the grant funding and that this years deadline for those applications will be September 17th at 4PM.

The Community Enhancement Grants are awarded each year and provide cash grants, special grants, services in kind and inventory opportunities for the applicants.

Those looking to apply can pick up an application form from the Corporate Services office at City Hall, Monday through Friday from 9:30 AM to 4:30PM or make use of the online application form available here.

The most recent round of Community Enhancement Grant funding for 2021 was announced in November of 2020, with City Council approving over 1.3 million dollars in funding for a range of community groups, that made for a 1.8% increase from the year before. 

The documentation of how the City planned to award funding in 2021 was presented as part of the November 9th 2020 City Council session. Included in the listings was a review of the larger amounts provided on an annual basis to such groups as the Library, Museum and Arts Centre Society.

The city anticipates advising successful applicants the status of their request by January of 2022.
