For Prince Rupert taxpayers, today is Tax Deadline Day, with City Hall staff available for the last minute processing of property tax payments, with the clock now ticking down towards 4:30 and the close of business.
The City is also reminding residents that today is also the final day to claim your Home Owner Grant, which residents now must do through the provincial government.
The setting of the property rates was announced following this years Budget Period, with a Zero increase to taxes part of the municipal program, though the city should still find some financial lift from the process with the value of housing having risen significantly in the last year.
The property taxes are the second call for cash for the year, in February the City issued tax bills for the city's water, garbage and sewer services.
