An overview of the operations for BC Ferries and the BC Ferry Authority will take place August 19th at a joint APM session (image from BC Ferry Authority website) |
An opportunity to hear of the current state of affairs for both the BC Ferry Authority and British Columbia Ferries Services comes up in mid August, as the two organizations host a joint Annual Public Meeting, the event scheduled for the Grand Pacific Hotel in Victoria.
The August 19th event which will get underway at 10AM will be limited to an attendance of only fifty people owing to COVID protocols.
However there are plans to provide for a live stream of the proceedings to allow for those with an interest to join the gathering virtually.
As part of the APM, the Chairs of both Boards will address the gathering, while President and CEO Mark Collins will review the past year for BC Ferries and offer up an outlook as to where he sees the vital transportation service going into the future.
Jill Sharland The CFO for BC Ferries will also provide an overview of the Ferry Service's financial performance in what has been a challenging year in the province.
Hopefully included in the operations update will be some guidance for North Coast and Haida Gwaii residents as to the status of ferry service in the region, which has been reduced to just one vessel owing to required maintenance work for the Northern Expedition, which has been out of service since June of this year.
That vessel is scheduled to return to service in the first week of August, provided there are no further delays to its work schedule.
The promised link to the APM event. for August has yet to be posted by BC Ferries.
But once they do add it to their information stream, you can learn more about the August meeting from the BC Ferries website, with more details on how you can participate with the virtual session to be included.
North Coast representation on the BC Ferries Board is through Prince Rupert's Michael Pucci who is among the eleven members of the Board for BC Ferries Board of Directors.
The North Coast is represented on the BC Ferry Authorities Board by former MLA Gary Coons, the appointment process for that and other positions is outlined here.
You can review some of the notes from past APM's from the BC Ferry Authority website
