The North Coast Regional District is making preparations towards a project that will identify safe and accessible tsunami evacuation routes and possible assembly sites for those in the Tlell area of Haida Gwaii, the fist step in their program, a consultation with the residents of the area, that by way of an online survey.

Those wishing to participate will be asked to share their thoughts and past experiences as part of the survey which takes between five to ten minutes to complete.

The survey consists of thirty four questions, some of the themes include whether your family has an emergency plan and supply kit, what level of concern you may have of a Tsunami reaching the community.

Other areas of note explore how residents would evacuate at the moment in the event of a tsunami, how they would get to their evacuation site and what challenges, if any, they feel would be presented during any kind of emergency situation.

As well, the survey includes questions on the level of information available to area residents and how that could be improved.

The deadline for participation is Saturday, July 31st.

Learn more about the survey from this information piece from North Coast Regional District.

The survey can be accessed here.

If you have any questions related to the survey, you can contact Chief Administrative Officer Daniel Fish at cao@ncrdbc.com  or by phone at 250-624-2002 Extension 8
