Northwest Wildfire focus directed to Bulkley Vally with numerous reports and some evacuations in place

Fires in the Bulkey Region of the Northwest are providing
challenges for firefighters heading into this weekend

For those planning on travel to in land areas this weekend, some particular attention should be paid to the listings from the BC Wild Fire Service and from Drive BC as the current level of Wildfire concern makes for much in the way of attention in the Bulkley Valley and Nechako region.

The BC Wildfire Service Dashboard, available from the BCWS website, provides a current look at the Fire Dangers across British Columbia, which as of 4 PM counted a total of 231 active fires burning in the province, 50 of them reported in the last 2 days

The BC WildFire Service Dashboard as of 4 PM Friday

Of those listed for the Bulkley Region, the Poplar Mountain Fire is listed as Out of Control, as is the Chief Louis Lake Fire.

An Evacuation Alert has been issued for those in the area of the Bulkley Lake Wildfire near Houston.

Information bulletins for fires of note can be accessed here.

With the conditions as they are, the Northwest Fire Centre has prohibitions and Restrictions in place for all areas of the region from Haida Gwaii to Prince George.

In addition to monitoring the work of the BC Wild Fire Service, you can track any road information related to wildfire situations from the Drive BC website.
