Vessels from WCMRC at the dock on the Prince Rupert waterfront, they will be on the water around the harbour today for a day of training and response exercises |
The latest exercise to test the response plan for the Western Canada Marine Response Corporation gets underway this morning as the members of the Prince Rupert station head to the waters of Prince Rupert and a Geographic Response training session, the agency alerting the public to the plan through a social media post this morning.
The local station holds regular exercises to work on their spill response blue print should a marine incident take place in local waters, last month a similar exercise took place off of Lelu Island.
As you pass by the harbour today you may see a number of the vessels based in the city running through their protocols, you can learn more about what they do and how they prepare for any potential situation from their website information page here.
