Trudeau's troubles become Skeena-Bulkley Valley theme

Wednesday's ruling from Federal Ethics Commissioner Mario Dion that found Prime Minister Justin Trudeau was in contravention of Federal ethic rules has made for one of the currents for the election campaign in Skeena Bulkley Valley.

And while it's not likely to be the main topic of discussion for local residents over the course of the two month campaign towards the October 21st election day, some of the candidates have clearly made some hay while the political sun was shining on the PM's troubles.

As we noted yesterday, incumbent and soon to be outgoing MP Nathan Cullen was the first of the Northwest politicians to weigh in on the latest troubles for Mr. Trudeau, with a few of those looking to replace Mr. Cullen in Ottawa quickly taking to their own social media streams to share their thoughts on the topic of the day.

Taylor Bachrach, fellow New Democrat and the candidate selected by the party to try to keep Mr. Cullen's seat in NDP hands used his growing social media forums to explore what he called the "explosive revelations" from Wednesday's report.

Conservative Claire Rattée took a two step approach to getting her thoughts out to potential voters, with both a facebook post and You Tube video to share her concerns on what the report delivered.

For the most part Christian Heritage candidate Rod Taylor, posted what appears to be the party line on the issue, a short, generic statement that provide a link to the report and a note that they are "not just partisan accusations anymore"

Green candidate Mike Green's Social media stream is still focused on environmental issues, with no mention of the ethics violation found there.

Likewise People's Party of Canada candidate Jody Craven has not, as of yet, weighed in on the Trudeau troubles through his social media options.

Both candidates did join some of the others however in sharing a few comments with the Smithers Interior news yesterday, with all in agreement that the report is not good news for the Prime Minister.

Missing from the parade of commentary from the release of Wednesday's report were notes from Liberal candidate Dave Birdi, who apparently prefers to look forward and not to the past.

His campaign facebook page hasn't had any updates since the BC Day weekend, so for the moment, those stopping by his social media outpost will find front and centre a photo of the candidate and his wife with the Prime Minister.

Something which we imagine may find the the opposition candidates turning to the old saying of a picture is worth a thousand words ...
