SD52 is ramping up their plans for the school year ahead, though labour negotiations remain unresolved as the days dwindle for the summer vacation period |
With the countdown to back to school now down to but three weeks, the Administration Office at SD52 is still looking to fill a few positions, with a number of positions currently available on the Make a Future website, which is the massive jobs listing portal in British Columbia
From a review of the online portal for educator employment in BC, it appears that other than a French Immersion position for École Roosevelt Park School, SD52 for the most part, has most of their teaching assignments settled, with only administration or support positions currently on the jobs available list.
Further information on SD52 hiring opportunities can also be found from the School District website, with application forms available for those looking to access positions as Teachers On Call and Support Staff opportunities among the list.
Whether there are any teachers in the classroom come September may still be up in the air however, as negotiations continue towards a new contract for the provinces public school educators.
The most recent contract expired in June and with off and on discussions taking place through the summer, the BC Public School Employers and BCTF have put aside eight days this month, set to start next week, towards mediation of their ongoing discussions.
Class sizes and composition continued to be one of the areas where the two sides had not yet found any common ground. Themes that BCTF President Teri Mooring has been highlighting through her twitter feed in recent days.
While the negotiations with the teachers still are unresolved, the province has been finding some success in contract settlements with support staff across BC, with the BC Government rattling off a number of contract announcements in recent days.
