The guiding document for the Directors of North Coast Regional District got the final stamp of approval this weekend, as the Regional government revealed the scope of its Strategic Plan for 2019-2022.
The themes and priorities coming together over a one and half day workshop hosted on Haida Gwaii back in April. The document that they have put together provides a glimpse at the themes and priorities that the Regional District will look to address over the course of the next three years.
The document explores six major themes as part of the Vision ahead for the Regional Directors with the Environment and Climate Change, First Nations relations, Governance, North Coast Community initiatives, Economic interests and Corporate Services making for the focus.
Towards those goals, the Directors have created a 22 item Priorities list which covers a range of areas and initiatives. With the top five elements those of Solid Waste planning, Trails strategies, A Regional Housing strategy and Erosion Prevention Advocacy at the top of their concerns or interests.
The Message from Chair Barry Pages highlights the desire for the Board to host a shared vision of the North Coast as a resilient and forward looking region.
The themes and priorities reflecting the Boards commitment to building a strong federation that brings together local communities and one that partners with area First Nations.
