Tick, tick, tick ... the clock is running on property tax payment day for Prince Rupert

Today is the deadline for Prince Rupert residents to pay their Property Taxes without fear of penalty and for those paying today, it's best to do it in person at City Hall before 4:30.

The deadline for payment through your financial institution of choice was June 25th, which allows for sufficient time for the payment to make the transit to the city's coffers.

City Council set the 2019 Property taxation rates as part of their budget process of earlier this year, final approval of the budget and a decision to reduce property taxes by 2 percent was adopted on April 19th.

The Taxation Notices were delivered to Prince Rupert Homeowners in late May, part of a package that also included a letter from Mayor Lee Brain and notes on the yearly review.

The penalty for unpaid taxes as of 4:30 today is 10 percent

Should you have questions about your property taxes you can contact City Hall at 250-627-0950
