Lax Kw'alaams outlines new reservation process for Ferry to and from Prince Rupert

The Lax Kw'alaams Band Council has outlined some new policies in place for travel on the marine connection between the community and Prince Rupert.

Those looking to reserve a vehicle space on the Spirit of Lax Kw'alaams must call the ferry reservation clerk at (250) 625-2445. A confirmation call will be made within 2 business hours stating your reservation number.

The same policy is in place for Passenger reservations, where You must call the ferry reservation clerk at (250) 625-2445 and again a confirmation call will be made within 2 business hours stating your reservation number

For those who travel Standby, the procedure is that People on standby will receive a call once a place opens up.

Vehicles with reservations must be at the ferry dock and in the lineup a minimum of twenty (20) minutes prior to the scheduled sailing time Reservations may be terminated for any vehicles not lined up at least twenty (20) minutes prior to scheduled sailing time. This is counted as a no show and you will be charged for that sailing as outlined below.

For those who have a reservation and who do not show, you will have to pay the ferry fee.

As well you will not be allowed further bookings until that fee is paid.

When it comes to a Cancellation Policy,  The Band Council notes that  Cancellations must be made 24 hours prior to the schedule sailing time by calling the reservation clerk. If you do not cancel your reservation 24 hours prior to the scheduled sailing time you will be charged for the ferry fee and you will not be allowed further bookings until that fee is paid.

They also outlines some Miscellaneous Rules for travellers to follow:

All vehicles with reservations that have lined up at least twenty (20) minutes prior to scheduled sailing time will be loaded on the ferry unless one of the following applies:

Emergency vehicles will be given priority (e.g. ambulance, police) Vehicle with reservations but who exceed weight or dimension limitations.

And a reminder that the Captain, at his sole discretion, may refuse any vehicle or passenger in accordance with his authority under Transport Canada regulations.
