A COVID-19 outbreak at the Kitimat LNG Canada worksite has been declared over by Northern Health |
Northern Health has announced that the outbreak of COVID-19 at the LNG Canada work site at Kitimat has been declared over, the relay of the welcome news being delivered on Christmas Day.
In their Information bulletin from December 25th, the Health Agency observed that there had been no new cases reported since December 2nd from the work site, the outbreak had been declared on November 19th.
In total 56 employees tested positive for COVID-19, all of them have recovered and cases and close contacts have completed their required period of self-isolation.
An unrelated outbreak continues to be monitored focused on the staff of Diversified Transportation which provides transportation services for the project site. No new cases associated with that outbreak have been recorded since December 14th.
There are also two other community related outbreaks currently under the watch of Northern Health, one at a Prince Georg Seniors Housing complex and the other at a string of Coastal GasLink worksite lodges.
