The vast empty parking lot at the Civic Centre may see a bit more activity next week as the BC Cancer Mobile Mammography Van comes to town |
The notice may be a bit short, but for those in need of a mammogram and not too thrilled about the current need to drive to Terrace to access one, the news is good with a stop planned for the Mobile Mammogram Clinic next week in Prince Rupert.
The BC Cancer Mobile Mammography Van is scheduled to arrive in Prince Rupert on Monday, July 6th and remain in town until the 15th, setting up in the Civic Centre Parking Lot.
Appointments are now being taken for those who wish to make use of the Prince Rupert stop for the BC Cancer Mobile Mammography Van |
The update for the region comes from Mayor Lee Brain's Social Media Facebook Page, the Mayor relaying the news from Councillor Barry Cunningham.
That information delivery appears to be the only actual notice of the clinic of note that is avaialble.
A search of the range of Northern Health information portals that are available provides little in the way of guidance.

The BC Cancer Screening homepage, while noting that the Prince Rupert clinic at the Hospital is Closed for all seven days of a week, doesn't however provide for a schedule for the Mobile Van and when it will be travelling to the North Coast.
Prince Rupert has been without a local mammogram technician for a number of months, requiring residents to travel to Terrace to make an appointment.
The lack of local access to mammograms is just one of a number of health service concerns on the North Coast that have been raised by residents in recent months
Prince Rupert City Councillor Barry Cunningham has brought the topic to the attention of City Council a number of times over the last few years, most recently as March of this year.
As we noted at that time, Northern Health has plans to train a technician for their mammogram program at Prince Rupert Regional Hospital, however there has been no update on the progress of that plan to date.
