MLA Rice calls on Haida Gwaii residents to 'bend the curve"; echoes themes from Dr. Bonnie Henry in statement on COVID-19 outbreak

North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice, who represents Haida Gwaii residents in the Legislature put out a statement on Saturday through her Social Media feed, making note of the recently disclosed community outbreak of COVID-19 on the Islands.

Among her comments for the community a reminder that the priority for everyone should be to bend the curve on Haida Gwaii and to focus on preventing spread to vulnerable residents on the islands.

As  the comments continue to be added to her Facebook post the North Coast MLA also reminds residents to remember the words of Doctor Bonnie Henry and to be kind, be calm and be safe.

As we outlined on Friday, Northern Health declared the outbreak late Friday afternoon, observing that all of the cases reported on the Islands were epidemiological linked and that all of the active cases were self-isolating at home and the process underway to identify and inform their close contacts.

Doctor Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix will be releasing the weekend case report totals later this afternoon, providing British Columbians a look at whether we have heeded their calls to rededicate ourselves towards the measures in place to bend the curve and keep the numbers low.

You can follow the report after 3PM from the BC Government Facebook page which should have the report if they host a live stream today.

As well, you can check out archive page here later this evening as we update our ongoing list of information related to the COVID situation in the province.

Cross posted from the North Coast Review.
