In wake of Haida Gwaii COVID-19 outbreak, City of Prince Rupert issues COVID reminders

With Northern Health declaring an outbreak of COVID-19 on Friday, an advisory which to date  has confirmed thirteen residents have come in contact with the coronavirus on Haida Gwaii, the City of Prince Rupert has reissued some of its COVID-19 advice from earlier this Spring.

In it's own advisory posted to the City of Prince Rupert website and Social Media stream on Saturday, the City provided the relay of information from the British Columbia Centre for Disease Control.

The advisory was also posted to Mayor Lee Brain's Social media page, which has provided for a range of commentary on the themes of COVID, tourism and local preparation for the impact of the coronavirus from those who follow Mayor's page.

You can review those themes here.

As we outlined on Friday, the Council of Haida Nation issued its own information release on Friday calling on residents to refrain from blaming, or shaming those who may be affected by the coronavirus and to provide them with a circle of care.
