As cases of COVID seemingly increase in the Northwest; Northern Health introduces newest COVID information tool for residents

Yesterday's COVID 19 report from Doctor Bonnie Henry and Health Minister Adrian Dix, provided some background on another jump in the reported cases of the coronavirus in the province, with yesterday's review providing for a spike in the Northern Health region.

The Thursday tally of thirty new cases province wide, featured eight new reports recorded across the North, making for eleven in the last week.

That jump in case counts to 77 so far, was recorded after what had been a very quiet and stable period of no new cases for over a month dating back to June.

The most recent Data provided by the BC Centre for Disease Control traces the jump in the Northwest, showing an increase in case counts recorded in July.

Northern Health has so far, kept to their long standing policy of not officially confirming where the newest of cases have been recorded.

The health authority recently outlined how they alert the public to any concerns, posting the background to their Prince Rupert area focused Facebook page.

As the new cases make for a bit of social media commentary these days, Northern Health has introduced a new online information source that will help to keep residents up to date on any Public Exposure concerns.

As a precaution, Northern Health will update this list with the locations and times of known possible exposures to COVID-19 to the public in our region. The possible exposures listed on this site are believed to be low risk but, out of an abundance of caution, Public Health asks anyone who may have visited any of the locations listed on the specified dates and times to monitor themselves for symptoms.

The project seems designed to inform residents of any large exposure issues, though to date there are no listings included to reflect any community outbreak concerns.

You can access the Northern Health Outbreak and Exposures information listing here.
