City Crews had a busy Saturday, working on some patch paving along a stretch of First Avenue West in the area of Chances/Safeway (photo submitted by NCR reader) |
One stretch down, miles yet to go!
The City of Prince Rupert had paving crews out working on Saturday, with workers taking care of one problem area for city motorists, that being a two block stretch of First Avenue West.
Crews had prepared the roadway for work on Friday cutting out sections of the old pavement, clearing the way for the paving team to take on the job through Saturday.
The work in the area of Safeway/Chances and the Crest Hotel came just in time as the expected crush of visitors to Prince Rupert began to arrive in town for the All Native Basketball tournament.
The work on First Avenue comes after the state of the city's roads made for some conversation at City Council, as well as on social media in recent days.
It's a patchwork quilt of paving to be found along First Avenue following some weekend work by the City of Prince Rupert |
With the Councillors back to the Council chamber tonight for their first Council session for February, hopefully city residents will hear more about the city's approach to remediation of the more dire looking areas of civic roadway this year.
