It was Budget week for the NDP government, with Finance Minister Carole James presenting the financial plan for 2020 in the Legislature on Tuesday, with debate on the document following through the week.

And while normally the budget release would dominate the proceedings of the Legislature for the week, this has been another tumultuous week for MLA's with the events in Wet'suwet'en territory and other communities of the province related to that dispute claiming a significant amount of time in Question Period.
Prince Rupert Mayor Lee Brain was in Victoria for the week as well, taking in the Budget Speech and Liberal response on Wednesday, as well as taking in a number of meetings with a number of government officials.

On Wednesday, the North Coast MLA paid tribute to Heiltsuk elder Maxwell Johnson, who was about to be celebrated by the Heiltsuk Nation later that day.

She also introduced one of the newest constituents living on the North Coast, an introduction that was well received by the members of the Legislature.

The North Coast MLA is also a permanent member of the Standing Committee on Aboriginal Affairs, serving as the convener of that forum.

For our readers from the Terrace-Kitimat region, Skeena MLA Ellis Ross was listed once in the accounts of the Legislature from February 18-20.
The Skeena MLA was once again one of the lead Liberals in Question Period addressing a range of questions to the Government side on the dispute in the Wet'suwet'en territory.

The Mills Memorial Hospital replacement plan also was part of the current for discussion this week, mentioned in the budget on Tuesday and noted by MLA Ross through his Social media feed.
