Chamber Lunch and Learn event to share information on BC Immigrant worker programs

The Multi-Purpose Room at Coast Mountain College's
Prince Rupert Campus is the host venue for a
Chamber of Commerce session on attracting immigrant workers

The Prince Rupert Chamber of Commerce is taking it's Lunch and Learn program on the road to Coast Mountain College this week, hosting a two hour session on the province of British Columbia's Provincial Nominee Program and details on the range of options available to attract a global workforce in Prince Rupert.

The event in the Multi-purpose room of the Prince Rupert campus will take place Wednesday from 11 AM to 1 PM and will feature Heather Michaud, from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada, as well as Mindy Nannar -- the Provincial Nominee Program Manager.

The focus will be on how employers can access programs to support their hiring needs and how to navigate the programs that are available to them. The topic of employee attraction and retention has been a frequent theme for the city's business sector, who have said that they are having difficulties in finding qualified workers locally.

The information session will provide some background on how they can tap into a global talent pool to find the right worker for the positions they are looking to fill.

More on Wednesday's presentation at Coast Mountain College can be found here.

The Provincial Nominee program is designed to cut the cost and qualification time required for workers to acquire residency and eventual citizenship in Canada.

Wednesday's event is sponsored by the Prince Rupert and District Chamber of Commerce, City of Prince Rupert, Port of Prince Rupert, Community Futures and Coast Mountain College.
