MLA Rice hails 45 years of civic participation from Prince Rupert's Filipino community

While Prince Rupert residents are well aware of the work on the North coast of the city's Filipino community, the word is now out across the province, with MLA Jennifer Rice celebrating their importance to the region in a statement on Tuesday in the Legislature.

Ms. Rice, made note the growth of the Filipino Canadian Association of Prince Rupert since it was established in 1973, hailing the tireless efforts at fundraising that the over 150 residents of Filipino ancestry take on both for local organizations and for relief efforts when disaster strikes their homeland.

She also paid tribute to the bursaries and scholarships that the Association provide for each year, sending students on to their post secondary studies.

Ms. Rice also observed as to the popularity of the Annual Filipino Night in Prince Rupert, which is set to celebrate its 45th event this Saturday.
