City Council Preview: Tuesday, October 9, 2018

Prince Rupert City Council settles in after the Thanksgiving Day weekend to host their final Council session for this collective, as the current council membership heads towards election day and the decision of the voters on October 20th.

Council has a short agenda for the night, set to review plans for the next refit cycle for the Digby Island/Airport Ferry as well as to how they will move forward on their plans related to the legalization of cannabis in Canada on October 17th.

The City's Financial Officer will also review the latest Financial variance report from June for Council members.

Council will also meet in a Closed Session at 5PM prior to Monday's Regular Session, the need to go behind the closed doors was explained through the Community Charter as follows:

(c) labour relations or other employee relations

 (k) negotiations and related discussions respecting the proposed provision of a municipal service that at their preliminary stages and that, in the view of the council, could reasonably be expected to harm the interests of the municipality if they were held in public.

You can review the Full Agenda Packages for both the Regular Council Session and that of the Committee of the Whole from the City's website here.
