Nation 2 Nation sessions set for Terrace on Thursday

The latest in Northwest consultation sessions takes place this week, as Terrace plays host the ongoing series of Nation2Nation forums, marking the second time that the program has stopped in the community.

Thursday's day long collection of meetings and presentations takes place at the Kitselas Community Hall, at 1581 Kulspai Crescent with forum events running from 10 AM to 4:30 PM.  

Following the official agenda of items on the day Social hosted by Geotech Drilling will take place from 5 until 7 PM.

The Forum brings together First Nations Leaders, Government Representatives from a number of levels, as well as Industry leaders, contractors and interested citizens, all exchanging ideas on how to identify the next opportunities for the region and how a partnership across the Northwest can bring them together.

The theme for the Terrace session is What's next -- Collaboration, Innovation and Partnerships"

Among some of the discussion themes on the day will be:

What Next for Communities Economically -- A panel discussion featuring Chief Joe Bevan of the Kitselas Nation, Acting Chief Councillor Crystal Smith of the Haisla  Nation and Kitimat Mayor Phil Germuth.

What's Happening Locally with economic development -- The second panel session of the day hasn't firmed up its speakers list as of yet, with Clarissa Spencer a Councillor with the Kitselas Nation and Calvin Carlick the Executive Director of the Tahtlan Central Government the two confirmed participants to this point.

Innovation Will Ensure a Sustainable Future for B.C.'s Resource Industries -- This panel session features Lynn Wright Parker, a councillor with the Kitselas Nation, David Keane, the President of LNG Alliance and Stewart Muir from Resource Works.

Bright Economic Future for Northwest BC -- The fourth and final panel session will have a strong Prince Rupert contingent in place, with both Jim Rushton of DP World and Maynard Angus from the Prince Rupert Port Authority to take part in the discussions related to the economic future of the region.

Three keynote addresses will round out the day's activities, with Chief Ian Campbell of the Squamish Nation  to provide the opening notes on the Power of Partnerships. While Samer Salameh the CEO of Pacific Future Energy will provide a presentation on the theme of Innovative Ideas, providing an overview of the proposed oil refinery project for the Northwest.

A third keynote address is scheduled, however no details have been listed as to who will be the speaker or what the theme may be.
