City to make announcement on Third Avenue revitalization plans tonight

Tonight's City Council session will see Council members make public some notes on a recent contract award that will begin the process of Third Avenue revitalization.

An item on the agenda for tonight's session notes that Council will release a resolution from a closed meeting of August 22nd which approved the awarding a contract for the planning phase of their Third Avenue ambitions to the Planning Partnership, contingent upon the City receiving grant funding from the Northern Development Initiative Trust.

The short agenda item notes that the new partners in civic development will be conducting community consultation and design work on the plan at some point in the future.

How much Council will reveal about the plan ahead isn't indicated from today's civic preview, which only makes mention of the contract award with little background information related to it attached to the Agenda notes.

Council will announce the award of a contract to start the process
of Third Avenue Revitalization at tonight's council session.

The Planning Partnership is a company of national consultants on urban design who have taken on many community makeovers across Canada, some of their work can be reviewed from the Planning Partnership website.

More notes on tonight's Council session can be found on our Council Preview page.
