Public Hearing for East side housing proposal set for February 22nd

Council will host a Feb 22nd Public
Hearing for a proposed zoning change
on the east side
Residents of the Prince Rupert Boulevard/Drake Crescent area of the city will have their chance to weigh in on the prospect of a new housing development later this month, with City Council preparing to receive public comment when it hosts a Public Hearing related to the plans for a parcel of land located across from the Pentecostal Tabernacle on Portage Avenue.

Aurora Resorts Incorporated of North Vancouver has a proposal in front of Council for a mixture of townhouses and apartments in the area in question, should the City wish to see those plans move forward a change in the current zoning of the land in that area will be required.

The City of Prince Rupert has scheduled a Public Hearing related to those zoning changes, set to take place prior to the February 22nd City Council meeting, with the opportunity for the public to outline their thoughts on the development starting at 7 PM.

Those that cannot attend the Public Hearing can submit their comments through a written submission to be delivered to the Deputy Corporate Administrator no later than noon on February 22nd.

More details on the Public Hearing and how you can participate can be found here.

Prince Rupert City Council has discussed the nature of the proposed rezoning a few times over the course of the last few months, some background on the proposed development can be found below.
