The Spring Session for the British Columbia Legislature had its first sitting this week, a short three day spurt of work for the elected officials, which started with the Speech from the Throne on Tuesday, a blue print of the BC Liberal Government's plans for the session ahead.
As is usually the case in the first week back, Premier Clark's mission points for the session ahead provided for much of the following discussion over the course of Wednesday and Thursday's session.
North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice spoke to theme of the Throne Speech on Thursday morning, her commentary taking the Government to task over a number of issues from the North Coast.
With a list of topics ranging from the Premier's comments related to those opposing LNG development at Lelu Island, the province's lack of engagement on Highway 16 transportation issues, as well as to what the MLA called the silence of the government to the closure of the Canadian Fish Cannery in Prince Rupert and the loss of jobs that will bring to the North Coast.
As we do at the end of each week of the Legislature session, we outline some of the main notes of interest from the North Coast MLA's work week.
