City Council Preview, Monday, February 22, 2016
The final Council session for February might be a little light in content for the Regular portion of the night, but with a Public Hearing and Committee of the Whole part of the night's proceedings, the prospect for another long night for Council members is there.
Tonight's gathering at Prince Rupert City Hall will start out with a Public Hearing into zoning changes recommended for the Prince Rupert Boulevard and Drake Crescent area, the changes are part of a proposal for a housing development in the area, with tonight's Council meeting an opportunity for residents to provide Council with their thoughts on the nature of the proposed development.
You can review the full information package related to that Public Hearing here.
We have more on the public hearing for this evening from our blog item of last week.
Council also hosts a Committee of the Whole meeting night, which provides the opportunity for the public to approach council with any issue that they wish to discuss, it will take place before the Regular Council session.
Before receiving the comments on any topic of concern to the public, Council will hear a presentation from Martin Holzbauer on how to increase funding and revenue to Local Governments under the Climate Action Revenue Incentive Program.
The Regular Council session will feature a Budget Presentation from the City's Chief Financial Officer, some background on a resolution related to Build Canada Grant Funding by way of a letter from the City of Port Coquitlam.
The City Planner will provide the final notes on the Zoning amendment bylaw for Drake Crescent with Council then to decide whether to give Third Reading and to adopt the Zoning Amendment Bylaw.
