Port operations in Prince Rupert may resume soon with word this morning that both sides in the BC Port Strike negotiations have accepted the federal mediator's settlement |
The now thirteen day BC Port Strike is seemingly nearing its end, with Labour Minister Seamus O'Regan announcing today that both sides have accepted the terms of the Settlement that were delivered yesterday by the federal mediators.
While the two sides finalize the details on the agreement, there is no set timeline noted towards the resumption of work and operations at the Port terminals in Prince Rupert and the rest of the province.
A statement from the employer through the BCMEA indicates that operations will resume as soon as possible.
A Vancouver local for ILWU noted of the announcement this morning.
The International Longhshore and Warehouse union has not commented further as of yet towards the declaration that the Strike has ended.
There is also no word of the deal yet shared on the ILWU 505 social media stream.
No terms related to the agreement have been made public to this point.
The deal, said to be that of a four year contract, still has to be ratified by the ILWU membership
