City of Prince Rupert offers reassurance on internet connectivity ... for now

CityWest continues to keep watch on its network from Vanderhoof
to Prince Rupert as wildfires spread across Northwest BC

With the accelerated amount of wildfires burning through the Northwest Friday brought a rumour to Prince Rupert of the imminent end for our internet connectivity to the east, a topic that City of Prince Rupert addressed with an update at mid morning.

Over the course of the last week the Northwest has become the focal point for Wildfire activity and response, with a large number of fires now raging between Terrace and Vanderhoof, many of them not far from the highway 16 corridor.

Earlier this morning, CityWest relayed its own information update  noting of the concerning situation in the Bulkley Nechako region

The CityWest Maintenance and Outages page does note of the wildfires in the region,  but as of this moment has no outages to report.

You can follow the CityWest social media stream for updates as the day moves forward, or at least until the Internet connection remains active ...
