Technical difficulties left City Council session live stream in the dark Monday

Those residents who follow Prince Rupert City Council through their live stream option on the city website were left out of the communication loop on Monday evening.

A session of what could have been some lively Council Discussion and presentations that was marred by some technical difficulties meant that the live stream for Monday's Council session did not make it to prime time.

The North Coast Review contacted Corporate Administrator Rosa Miller to make an enquiry as to the fate of the Monday evening session

Ms. Miller advised that a technical issue with the flash streaming program made for the issue of note. Though she did observe that the evening's council session did air as usual through CityWest's community channels.

For those in the community however that don't subscribe to that service what was left was an empty page where normally the council session proceedings are provided.

The timing was rather unfortunate for a technical issue to reduce the viewing audience, as Monday's session was a night full of items of interest.

First through a Public Hearing on a zoning change request for a property on Portage Avenue and then with a Committee of the Whole session that featured the First public opportunity to offer comment on the City's Budget plan for 2022.

Also of note for last evening was a presentation from Tourism Prince Rupert that celebrated a new signage program for the community.

As well, the usual proceedings of municipal democracy were not available for a portion of the community on the evening.

All may not be lost however ... with a notice posted to the City of Prince Rupert social media stream today providing a bit more background and an update on their plans to fix the issue.

We can all catch up on what we missed when the City posts the Archived video of Monday evenings session to their You Tube archive page

More notes on past City Council Discussions that have made it to public review can be explored through our archive page here.

Cross posted from the North Coast Review.
