Nisga'a Members to see 2,500 dollar disbursement gift this month

The Nisga'a Lisims Government  has some welcome news for members of the Nisga'a Nation this month, with the NLG outlining the details of a 2,500 dollar gift distribution to take place after an extraordinary sitting of the Wilp Si’ayuukhl Nisga’a, the Nisga'a Legislative Body.

At that Session, Nisga'a President Eva Clayton announced that the elected members of the WSN had unanimously approved a budget allocation of $20 million dollars to allow for the distribution of the gift.

The opportunity to deliver on the gift, comes following the announcement that the Federal Government will reimburse the Nisga'a Nation for the loans taken out during the time of the negotiation of the Nisga'a Treaty.

"We have heard the call of our people and in honour and recognition of the generations of Nisga'a men and women who grow old at the negotiation table, it is time we share this with our people. -- President Eva Clayton

The one time gift of the $2,500 will be distributed to each citizen who was registered as a Nisga'a Citizen as of December 1st, 2021.

The Nisga'a Lisims Government notes that the formal eligibility criteria an eligibility process will be published on the Nisga'a Lisims Government website soon.
