Some new pandemic funding from the Province of British Columbia will soon be making its way to five popular events on the North Coast, Central Coast and Haida Gwaii, designed to help reduce the challenges local groups have had from COVID over the last few years.
Among the recipients of the region to benefit are:
Prince Rupert
BC Annual Dance Competition $16,000
Prince Rupert Regional Swim Meet $4,000
Haida Gwaii
Tluu Xaada Naay gwii kyuuwee – The Trail to Canoe People’s House $166,160
Edge of the World Music Festival $15,000
Tlell Fall Fair $4,450
“The pandemic made it more challenging for people to gather for events and enjoy all the arts and culture the North Coast has to offer.
This new funding will help support local fairs, festivals and events, allowing us all to safely come together again as a community.”
The five events to receive funding from this allotment are among 43 in Northern British Columbia and 681 events province wide.
