A consistent day for your weekly pick up of garbage is one of the first features of note for the City of Prince Rupert Garbage/Recycling collection program for 2022.
The Map and Calendar for collection was posted to the City of Prince Rupert Facebook page on Monday and residents will no longer it seems be required to do the Monthly calendar shuffle, with the date of pick up to remain the same for the majority of the twelve months for 2022.

In their advisory of Monday, the city notes that residents can determine their pick up areas and date of collection as follows:
The areas identified on the map represent the breakdown of curbside collection areas starting January 2022. To determine the collection dates in your colour-coded area, please refer to the map and corresponding schedule showing the dates for each colour. Note that 2 colours are covered each collection day.

So far however, there has been no further guidance on how the city's Blue Bin Recycling program will rollout.
The last we heard of the program coming from the City's Operations Director Richard Pucci who as we outlined from our notes of the November 22nd City Council Session observed that his Department would be messaging the community prior to the launch.
At that November 22nd session Mr. Pucci did note that residents will be offered the opportunity to exchange their current grey garbage cans for larger ones, with a switchover fee and annual fee in place for those larger cans.
You can explore some of the background towards their decisions from our notes here.
