Port Edward's Recycling bins continue to see some heavy usage and District officials note some of it comes fro non residents of the community |
While the North Coast Recycling Centre has resumed its normal operations at the Kaien Road Facility, some residents of the region it seems are continuing to use the Port Edward collection boxes as their preferred recycling option.
In a message to Port Edward residents posted to the District Facebook Page this week, the District has outlined that with a surge in use for the community bins, the District will be receiving additional service charges from the North Coast Regional District related to the need for more frequent pick up.
In their advisory for residents, they also make note of the measures that they will be taking to address the use of the Port Edward bins by residents from outside the community.
We first outlined the problems for Port Edward in April, when the District made note of the volume of out of District vehicles arriving to drop off recycling material.
That situation became a larger issue of concern after the North Coast Regional District's Kaien Road facility went to an appointment only operation as part of the Regional District COVID pandemic response.
Regional District returned to the Drop In operational status in Mid May.
