June 15th the date for BC Ferries to introduce mask policy for travellers

Additional health and safety measures at BC Ferries go into effect
as of June 15th, as passengers will be required to wear face masks or
coverings while aboard vessels on trips of more than 30 minutes

Starting June 15th those travellers on BC Ferries routes in and out of the Fairview Terminal will be required to wear a mask while transiting to their destination aboard Ferry Service vessels.

The requirement for the facial coverings was announced today, as BC Ferries follows the directives and guidance of Transport Canada which outlined the new regulations last week.

Travellers on BC Ferries will be required to use face masks and
coverings as of June 15

This directive goes into effect on June 15 for routes longer than 30 minutes and applies to all passengers over the age of two, including those passengers travelling in a vehicle. Passengers will be asked to confirm they have a face covering and are willing to wear it when necessary. If a passenger answers ‘no’, or fails to answer, they will be unable to travel. Customers must bring their own face coverings as BC Ferries will not be supplying them to travellers.

In addition to the new regulation related to masks,  BC Ferries continue its process of screening all customers for COVID-19 symptoms and restrict travel to any customer that does not meet the screening requirements, as per the federal guidelines.

More background on the mask policy. as well as the specifics for such masks can be found from this information statement.

BC Ferries is also reminding travellers to monitor their website and social media streams for any further updates on travel policies aboard their vessels.
