Bring on the Prince Rupert Paving Bids, as the City opens the request for quotes process!

Paving on George Hills Way in 2019, the 2020 Paving season is almost here
and this week the City of Prince Rupert began the process of accepting bids
for the work through the summer months.

As was mentioned at Monday's City Council session, 2020 will be the year of paving, with the city set to make use of 1 million dollars, much of it received from the Federal Gas Tax Fund to repair some of Prince Rupert's battered roads.

The good news on roads was relayed by Mayor Lee Brain that through the approval of the Budget on Monday night.

"It's still able to move forward with things on our budget. For example our roads budget has been increased to over 1 million dollars now, that's been doubled from 400,000 dollars which it was been like that since 1998. And we're finally able to allocate to some of those core problems that we know the community has wanted to see, so  this is definitely the year of paving." -- Mayor Lee Brain on Monday evening

As they looked towards the still to be paved roads ahead, Council members made much of their planning for the paving project for 2020 back in December of last year.

Towards the roll out of the pavement, the City has posted a Request for Quotes for the 2020 Paving Program, the call for submissions issued on Monday on the BC Bid site.

With the RFQ, comes a bit of a guide towards which streets will get the most attention this year, the majority of those in the April 27th call found to the east of the McBride Street divide.
