Prince Rupert Council modifies Committee of the Whole Meeting format to accept quesitons

With Prince Rupert City Council still on a course of hosting their Council sessions in a remote format, they have devised a work around to all for a Committee of the Whole session for Monday evening, one which will provide a forum for quesitons or concerns from the public, by way of email or voice mail.

The public engagement portion of the Committee process will see Corporate Administrator Rosa Miller read out aloud whatever concerns or themes are relayed by the public prior to the Monday night session.

Those who wish to bring a concern or topic of interest to the attention of City Council can contact Ms. Miller by way of the following options:

Of note from the Regular Committee of the Whole procedure, your full name and address will be required with your submission. 

All submissions must be received no later than 4:00 pm Monday, May 25th.

The City has posted the information to their Facebook page, along with an advisory posted to the Agenda page from the City Website.

Monday nights Committee of the Whole will be the first session since February, with the Council members having previously cancelled both the March and April public engagement opportunities.

It was a situation of concern that Councillor Barry Cunningham spoke to in late April.

The topic of the Committee of the Whole sessions also made for some conversation at the last Council session of May 11th.

At that same meeting City Manager Robert Long outlined the plan to shift many of the city's administrative engagement with the public to an appointment only basis.

Should there be any submissions delivered to her office, City Council Story Time with Ms. Miller will start at the very beginning of Monday evenings festivities at 7PM.
