Port Edward's Park Planning

Diana Lake is now open for Day Use and the
District of Port Edward has some plans to enhance the
experience later this summer

The arrival of Spring weather and a move towards more relaxed measures in the period of COVID-19 has the District of Port Edward thinking of their Parks and planning for the future.

The District outlined the opening plans for some of the area facilities in a string of Facebook posts last week, noting that Diana Lake Park had opened on Friday, with Prudhomme Lake to open for camping in June.

The District also notes that they have been working on plans with BC Parks for a partnership project to provide for some site improvement to Diana Lake this season, that through funding from a generous grant from Ridley Terminals.

The also make note of the arrival of a new Park Operator for Prudhomme and Diana who took the duties required earlier this month.

The District also issued a reminder to park users that the Rainbow Lake Recreation Area is designated as a DAY USE ONLY facility with no Overnight camping permitted. Those who disregard that advisory will be subject to towing.

In response to a question from their Facebook page, the District of Port Edward also offered up a glimpse at some future plans for park infrastructure, making note that they have some concepts in  mind to expand on the amount space for recreation and leisure in the region.

The District notes of a business plan that they hope to submit to BC Parks for the next campground expansion program and how their proposal will help to meet the need for more options in the region, though they don't expand too much on what they hope to deliver should it all come together.
