The NDP government's Minister for Mental Health and Addictions received a look at some of the issues facing Prince Rupert residents last week, with Judy Darcy making note of her visit of November 14/15 through her social media stream.

The visit which came without little fanfare or advance notice, seems to have been a short one, with Ms. Darcy meeting with a number of those on the front lines in delivering service to the community and hearing more on the issues of mental health and addictions in the community.

As part of her visit she also had an opportunity to learn more about the work of the Trinity House Recovery program, which hosts participants at its 11th Avenue East location.

So far, North Coast MLA Jennifer Rice has not made note of the Minister's visit through her own social media stream, or offered up any of her own take aways from Ms. Darcy's tour of the community.

Should she follow up on some of the themes from Ms. Darcy, she will hopefully provide some background from the visit. Particularly when it comes to some of the issues that were discussed and if there is any progress on the way towards providing for a wider program of service delivery for those in need in the community.

Some of the recent initiatives province wide can be reviewed from the Minister's home page at the BC government website.

You can review more notes on the work of the BC government in the region and our notes from the Legislature from our archive page here.

Cross posted from the North Coast Review.
